IVC Enrollment Reporting
The Illinois Virtual Campus collects course enrollment data for distance education offerings provided by all colleges and universities in Illinois. These data are shared with the Illinois Board of Higher Education, Illinois Community College Board, and with others who have a stake in higher education in Illinois. The definitions of distance education delivery modes were jointly developed and adopted by the IBHE and the ICCB. The IBHE currently collects enrollment data on students by program of enrollment, but does not collect data on distance education course enrollments by delivery mode. As a result, the IVC will continue to collect distance education enrollments from public universities and independent colleges and universities in Illinois. To make this process easier the IVC has developed a process that enables institutions to submit their data electronically.
The ICCB has implemented a system to obtain data on distance education course enrollments through its MIS reporting system. The Illinois Virtual Campus has developed a process with the ICCB to obtain the distance education enrollment directly from the ICCB S3 data for all community colleges that include the distance education delivery mode on their S3 data submission to the ICCB and submit their report by the due date. Community colleges that do not include the distance education delivery mode on the S3 data or do not get their S3 data to the ICCB by the due date will need to contact the IVC to make arrangements for data submission.
Since the IVC report on distance education course enrollments is the only comprehensive report of all distance education offerings of all Illinois colleges and universities it is important that all institutions in Illinois report all of their distance education enrollments to the Illinois Virtual Campus. This means that IVC providing institutions should report their distance education course enrollments for offerings listed in the IVC online catalog as well as offerings not listed in the IVC catalog. In addition, this means that colleges and universities in Illinois that have distance education offerings but are not yet IVC providing institutions should also report their distance education course enrollments to the IVC.
The request for the enrollment report will be emailed to the IVC Enrollment Reporting Contact at each college and university. A copy of the request is also sent to the Illinois Association of Institutional Research listserv and to the IVC Provider listserv. Please keep the IVC informed if there is a change in either of these contacts. The calendar of IVC enrollment reporting dates is shown below:

Delivery Mode Definitions
The following are the categories and their descriptions/definitions that will be used by the IBHE, the ICCB and the IVC for reporting distance education courses and course enrollments by the primary or predominate distance education mode.
| Internet Based | Courses provided via the Internet. |
| Interactive TV/Video/Audio | Courses provided via a mode of delivery that includes two-way video/audio. This includes compressed video courses that are interactive. This category also includes one-way video/two-way audio because these also provide for immediate interaction with students. |
| Broadcast TV/Video/Audio | Courses provided via a mode of delivery that has one-way video/audio. This includes cable TV courses and satellite TV courses that have one-way video/audio capability. |
| Stored Media | Courses provided in a stored media format such as videotape, audiotape, CD-ROM, and DVD. |
| Correspondence | Courses provided in print via the mail and/or fax. |
